GoPro vlogging concept

In the last few years, I have been flying FPV drone and we started to do more cinematic footage with my drone. GoPro are the “go-to” camera for lots of FPV pilots. The only issues is they are big and heavy. We started taking the gopro appart to only use the bare minium. The motherboard and the lens.

Here is an simple example.

As you can see, the entire drone is 77g! We call this naked gopro! I then started to make custom PCB dedicated 100% for naked gopros. That enable me to be creative in the way I place the lens, buttons, power the gopro, etc. This is where the idea of making that vlogging gopro came from.

With the release of the GoPro Hero 10 tomorrow, I decided to make my own gopro.

After I made this I realize it looks like gopro max, but mine looks better 😋
The separated 20x LED from the left picture does not help with the esthetic.

for the photoshoped gopro max on the left, here is what I could do to make better.
change LED lights, need to hide the LED.
change the round edge of the body itself to match the LCD screen.
camera bezel is big
– find a nice place for the gopro logo
try the red boarder around the LCD while it’s recording, like Sony
– find place for the microphone array, I would like to be like Sony ZV-1 (which I did reproduce on my 3D printed case)

I decide to do it in PowerPoint instead of photoshop. Here is the result. I even added lens glare on the LCD like GoPro does. I would need to think or check some reference to do the same thing with the LED. Actual lens and not white. With light flare. This PowerPoint does miss some lighting effect.

Here is the wanna be microphone array, the hotshoe mount and the 3.5mm headphone jack.
I wanted to drill those holes for microphone. The position of the 3.5mm jack is really in the way of the commercial available microphone. I photoshop it so it looks good but it’s not.
