Improving Microscope Clarity: The Polarizing Lens Hack

After been affected by YouTube algorithm, I found this video from Engineer Bo.

In a nutshell, adding polarizer to your microscope removes all the reflection to easily see markings on SMD parts.

Here is an example a PCB I had laying around of my sumo robot motor controller.

You can also notice adding a filter helps to see the PCB contamination.

After checking that video, I immediately when on Amazon to see how much it cost to get 52mm circular polarizer. I then had better idea and search locally with Facebook marketplace and found one for 4$ US!!

I then downloaded Bo 3D files from his account
https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/gadget/52mm-circular-polariser-mount-for-electronics-microscope

I then ordered polarised film sheets that I glued to the LED ring transparent lens.

As I work on my sumo robot, I got an aluminum splitter in my finger. Guest how easy it is to spot it!

Greatest thing since sliced bread!
