They say, they spend a lot of personal money on the project. They have 800 pre-order and the Chinese are interested!

In the video they talk about the price and it should be between 4000 to 5000 Swiss Franc (CHF) so that is $4782 to $5980 US.

http://rynomotors.wordpress.com

This looks like the Bombardier Embrio concept. The Embrio has smaller front wheel that acts like a stability control when the Embrio is stopped or traveling below 12mph.

Or the Canadian Benjamin Poss Gulak, with his one unicycle with two wheels.

Here is the new U2 version. It is a hybrid between a motorcycle and what you see there. I opens like scissors and unfolds into a motorcycle. (Not really like scissors, more of a linear motion)

I just notice that Ben has a blog! http://bpgulak.com/

He his working on this neat track scooter call DTV.

“armadilo scooter” by ravit biton

I like that design because it folds really small. The hard part if you ever build something like that, would be having this latch system to unlock each segments.

“twister” by asaf koren

I like this system, you pivot the middle part to make a little chopper and sit down or ride it like a scooter upward. One of my design idea is a mix between gokart and scooter. I have some drawings I will share one day.

It is so great, that I took picture just in case I wanted to build one Then I realise that I could make one using the same electric motor I have

Back in Québec, I was able to find a razor push scooter for 1.50$ and a kid bike for 1$ at garage sell! The wheel on the kid bike is around 12 inch and I was planning to make it using a small wheel. I still want something portable if I enter a city bus or something like that.

I was also able to find a electric scooter for 18$.

I bought that scooter for parts. I wanted the wheels, batteries and other stuff. The scooter was working. I was going around 10km/h ( 6mph). I little to slow.

Saturday, my girlfriend and I when to St-Eustache flew market, one of the biggest flew market in Québec. I was able to find the exact scooter I have. It did not have any battery and no motor. It is the new version of the one I have. It has a place to put a bicycle seat! I bought it for 10$, I did try to bargain but that lady did not want to do business. The wheels are in very good conditions! They are worth 24$ for the back wheel and 19$ for the front. The frame is also wider and does not have this metal container. I also find a other electric scooter that I already have. It was more expensive and missing parts. It was 35$ and only had one 12V battery and it a was a mess.

I also saw some brand new scooter like the one I got for 10$, they where brand new for a 100$ and the where suppose to go 15km/h. Mine will cost way more and go way faster!

There is the scooter with my mom bike seat. I have a Giant mountain bike and giant’s seat post are not standard, they are ~30mm diameter compare to ~26 – 27 mm.

Here you can see how wide the frame his. I can not insert the battery in the frame I have right now. By the way, I will not use lead battery in the final scooter, this is just for testing.

The wheels are also different. The back wheel seems to have a better incorporation of the back break. The front wheel has holes in it.

When I inserted the pulley on the motor shaft, there was some little side mouvement. It was not extremely major but I found this simple solution that could of fix this problem fast and it was free.

This sort of slack was due to me machining of the motor shaft. The “D” slot ( D-bore) was the problem.

The solution was to make a shim to go between the shaft and the belt pulley to prevent the mouvement.

The coke can makes perfect shim. It measure 0.0035″ ( 0.09mm)

Very easy to cut and make the shape you want.

Making a triangle helps to insert the shim under the belt pulley.

With this solution, I was able to remove the slack in the belt pulley and the shaft. After a couple of hours on the scooter, I saw the shim disintegrated or simply not there when I remove the pulley from the shaft. It does work for a certain amount of time. The shim took the same colours has the shaft and was extremelly hard to see.

The first time I did not see it and the second time I removed the pulley from the shaft, it was there but hard to see.

Here is my project about my electric scooter.

I was always interested to build a electric moving thing. In may 2009, I when in France to see familly and one of my dad and my mom best friend. His son had this electric scooter that he was not using anymore and he did not have the battery. I told him that I wanted to modify one to make it go real fast. He then gave it to me for FREE!

A big thanks to Paulo!

I will explain how I modify this scooter and all my experimentation about it.

Can’t wait to ride it!

The brushless motor weight only 406grams compare to the 1Kg of the original motor.

It is hard to believe that a motor half the weight is 14 time more powerfull. Time will tell…

Here are my motors, the big one is the original motor. It is a 100W 24V DC.

The other small motor is a 1440W brushless motor. The maximum voltage is 36V.
1hp = 746W
so this 1440W motor = to 1.93hp

1440W divided by 746W = 1.93hp

I will round it to 2hp

DC motor are easy to control. You plug it to a battery and it turns. Brushless motor need a special controller that send a specific pattern to the motor.
I will post about that later on.
